I wasn't born like everyone else.
I'm different from others.
They call me a freak,
And say I'm not human.
But does it really matter what I look like?
If I am a boy or a girl or even neither?
If I have horns sticking out of my head,
Or wings growing out of my back?
What really makes a person human?
Is it based on appearances,
Or on the actions we make,
And what we think and value in our lives?
I still have a mind and a heart.
I eat, breathe, think, and feel just like everyone else.
So who cares what I look like?
I am human.
Forget the pain,
With needles of yellow liquid,
And rows of white ice crystals,
And smoke with the scent of relaxation.
Forget the pain,
Of years of abuse and neglect,
From those I thought loved me,
But wanted to forget the "mistake" they created.
Forget the pain,
Of the only one who loved enough,
To start a family of our own,
But then leave me and take it all away.
Forget, forget, forget.
Every time I try to forget it all,
I remember the pain of the past,
And I try to forget again.
With every sweet sip of bitter liquor,
Every injection of toxins,
Every swallow of pills,
And every inhalation of ecstasy and relief.
While it
Unable to age,
Unable to get deathly ill,
Unable to die.
For the rest of eternity.
This blessing and curse,
Keeps me the same age,
Year after year,
Century after century.
I have lived through years of history,
Of war, disease and destruction.
Yet my hair never grays.
And my skin never wrinkles.
I made many friends and created a lot of family,
Who grow old while I stay young,
And eventually they die,
Leaving me alone and still full of youth.
I must visit a million graves of departed friends and relatives,
Every single year.
At family reunions, little children gather around me,
And call this young woman "Grandma".

Why do you still smile?
From the moment I was created,
I brought you life.
I fill up your veins with red,
To keep you alive.
I beat slowly like a steady drum,
When you sleep.
And I beat in a fast tempo,
When you run or with the one you love.
Although I am essential for you to live,
I am a tiny drum,
With very little to offer.
And I am slowly killing you.
Why do you still smile?
One day your life will end,
Much sooner than you think,
Because of me.
Why do you still smile?
Everything will be taken away from you;
Your friends, your family, your life,
And even your entire future.
I don't understand.
I cause you pain and suffering,
Yet you still smi
I run from my forest prison.
The demon that captured me chases me,
With his wild and insane red eyes,
And his bloody hands with his bloody knife.
He screams for me to return,
Or I will die a painful death.
But the demon's actions are far worse than death.
Death is a soothing lullaby compared to extreme torture.
The demon grabs my arm,
And I could see the blood lust in his eyes.
Yet somewhere inside me,
A great strength rose and spread out to my arms and legs.
I punch, kick and scream,
Fighting the demon's grasp.
I break free and run again,
From the forest prison.
The branches scratch my body,
Drawing blood,
And getting in my
